Helianthus angustifolius has multiple erect, tall stems with coarse, dark green linear, opposite leaves topped with numerous flowers in summer and fall. Flowers are yellow with a brown/black center, about 2″ across and multiple blooms form on each stem. Small seeds that birds love form in the center just like their sunflower cultivar cousins. Can be an aggressive spreader through rhizomes, especially in moist soils. Great for cut flowers and garden color.
