Thalictrum thalictroides or Rue Anemone has low growing, delicate, reddish-brown stems topped with small clusters of dark green three lobed leaves. Mature plants put forth multiple flowers, each on its own stem that appear in whorls above the leaves in early spring. Flowers have six petals that are white, often with a pink tinge, surrounding a mass of greenish-yellow stamens. The blooms can be erect or nodding and tremble in the slightest breeze, which lends them another name, ‘Windflower.’
