Hypericum frondosum is a compact, low-growing, semi-woody deciduous shrub with blue-green leaves and brilliant one inch golden yellow flowers in summer. The flowers have five petals and a mass of stamens in the middle that resemble a yellow pom-pom. The reddish, exfoliating bark gives this plant interesting color even when the leaves drop in autumn.
