Chrysopsis mariana is a low-growing perennial with a basal rosette of oblong leaves that are covered in fine hairs when they are young. A 1-2′ flowering stalk is put up in the summer.  The hairy leaves lend it another common name, ‘Silkgrass’. The flowering stalk is topped with multiple small yellow daisy-like blooms in late summer and fall.  Will readily self-seed and tolerates hot, dry conditions once established
