Yucca filamentosa has a radial cluster of stiff, linear, pointy, evergreen leaves with exfoliating margins. The edges of the leaves form thread-like, white curly fibers as they peel away. This plant forms colonies over time through root suckering in an outward radiating circle. A tall flower stalk emerges from the center of the leaf rosette in mature plants and is covered with droopy cream-white flowers that are followed by oblong seed capsules. This plant does well in full sun in well drained soil, but will tolerate a wide variety of soils and light conditions, and is extremely drought tolerant.
