National Pollinator Week

at Beech Hollow Farm

06/24/23   10 am -12:00 pm Tanner Biggers

First things first:

Last year we had 32 folks come out for the Wild Ones walk.  To make sure we have enough Beech Hollow folks to take care of all of you, we are issuing RSVP's for the walks.

Doesn't cost a thing, but it reserves your place at the event.

Walking On:

The day's activity will be counting pollinators, bees, butterflies, and other insects.

Rudbeckia triloba, Brown-Eyed Susan, attracts numerous pollinators to its bright yellow blooms.

We are starting at 10 am because many bees will be most active between 10 and 12.  Bee counting forms and a Bumblebee ID card will be available for all participants.

After the Census in the Sun Beds, we will take a lunch break. Tanner plans on giving a talk about Native Pollinators at lunch in the Blue Barn.  We encourage everyone to bring a packed lunch.

After the lunch, anyone in the  group who wants to join in a hike down to the Beech Grove, and through the forest, is welcome.

BombuBombus pensylvanicus feeds on nectar from the flower of Echinacea purpurea, or Purple Coneflower.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Bug repellent
  • Sunscreen
  • Lunch
  • Water
  • Curiosity!

Please arrive at 9:45-10 am at Beech Hollow at 1575 Elberton Rd, Lexington, GA. Meet at Beech Leaf Gate by the parking area.
