Gordonia lasianthus, also known as Loblolly Bay, is an evergreen tree that ranges in size from 30-60ft depending on the moisture content of the soil. Large, waxy flowers are produced during the spring and summer months. These fragrant, white flowers have five petals surrounding a group of yellow stamens making them visually similar to the Cherokee Rose. The blooms open individually rather than all at once which provides interest all season long.
