Lonicera sempervirens is a deciduous, twining, woody vine with opposite, glossy, semi-evergreen leaves and showy flowers. The clusters of tubular orange-red flowers give way to small, fleshy, orange-red berries that birds love. The flowers attract hummingbirds. This vine needs a trellis and training to climb, or can be used as a creeping ground cover in a large area. The leaves are evergreen in warmer parts of the south but may die back in colder areas.
