B-Buckets

FestiFall Talk, 12:45-1:45 October 25th.

Talk will be in the education space next to the nursery at 393 North Clarendon Avenue Scottdale GA 30079

Katherine Smith is passionate about pollinators.

Katherine Smith's talk  “How to Use Buckets with Bti to Control Mosquitoes and Support
Pollinators” will explain how to make and use mosquito buckets, the only method of mosquito
control that does not harm pollinators.

Buckets with Bti are easy and eco-aligned, among the most effective and cheapest ways to reduce mosquito activity -- a great choice for those
planting natives to support biodiversity.

A professor in the Department of Creative Arts at Agnes Scott College, in 2024 Katherine co-established the third organic demonstration garden at the Dana Fine Arts Building. She created BBuckets in 2025 to provide an alternative to the mosquito fogging prevalent throughout metro Atlanta.  Fogging kills our butterflies, native bees, and our other beneficial insects.

She is a licensed pesticide contractor, the only one in Atlanta who promotes mosquito controls and repellents without synthetic chemicals.

A Q & A session after the presentation will seek to address individual planning and goals to get folks ready for next season's mosquito prevention (April 2027).
