Centrosema virginianum is a twining, trailing vine with a delicate stem usually about 6′ long. Produces lavender to white pea family flowers for most of the year with the peak in mid-summer. The flowers are followed by a legume pod full of seeds. This vine is a nitrogen fixer, attracts numerous butterflies and other insects and is the larval host plant for at several species of butterfly. A great addition to a butterfly garden.
