Veronicastrum virginicum or Culvers Root is a low-growing, upright, stem with whorls of dark green leaves that puts forth a branching upper stalk lined with tiny flowers. The flowers are small, white, tubular, and whorled around the stalk giving it a ‘bottle-brush’ appearance. Several spikes of flowers occur on mature plants. The flowers are followed by tiny seeds capsules that line the stalk. This plant is well suited for partially shady borders and margins or open sunny areas.
