Hydrangea quercifolia has very large, oak leaf-shaped leaves, up to 12″ long, line stems with orange-brown, peeling bark that are topped with flowers in summer. The conical, white flower clusters are very large, from 4 inches to 14 inches in length, and bloom for a month or more in summer. Fall color for this shrub ranges from scarlets to smoky purples.
