The handsome, leathery arrow shaped leaves of Wild Ginger are evergreen. The plant is long lived, and once established will gradually form a beautiful circular clump of shiny variegated leaves. In late Spring clusters of 1/2″ long speckled maroon, tubular flowers bloom at the very base of plant on or under leaf litter. The Native Americans used Wild Ginger to treat a variety of ailments, also used to season meat and fish.
