Green Gardens Education and Design’s

mission is to help homeowners transition from traditional lawns into an ecologically diverse and wildlife supportive environment with native plants.  We give homeowners the confidence and direction to develop their property into a beautiful, low maintenance yard that can provide nutrient dense food, wildlife habitat and a deep connection to nature.

By connecting yards and habitats, homeowners can actively work to offset their carbon footprints and support species that are struggling.

Join us on Saturday, 9/11/21 from 10:00am-12:00pm to ask questions about how to incorporate more natives into your landscape and help support wildlife.

Trecia Neal was a biologist at Fernbank Science Center in Atlanta for thirty years, retiring in 2017. Her areas of expertise are ornithology, environmental education, and designing outdoor classrooms and gardens.  In 2015 Trecia received the Outstanding Biology Teacher Award for Georgia from the National Association of Biology Teachers in recognition of her career’s work in environmental education.

Trecia was also the project director for the School Master Gardener program that trained over 300 Master Gardeners from 75 different schools across DeKalb County. She was instrumental in helping design gardens for these schools that were used as outdoor classrooms.

Upon retirement, Trecia formed Green Gardens Education and Designs LLC. She is in demand as a public speaker for a variety of topics that include composting, vermicomposting, monarch butterfly ecology and biology, and gardening for pollinators and birds. Trecia is also a member of the Ecological Landscape Alliance.

One of her most recent accomplishments include collaboration in the design and sourcing of plants for 63 raised pollinator beds for all of the Georgia State Parks. These beds were registered as Monarch Waystations to promote the planting of milkweed and good nectar sources for monarchs on their migration.
