03/27/22 Feel Empowered to Prune
2 pm - 3:30 pm Barbara Dorfman
With the right tools, gardeners and homeowners can do the job themselves or supervise family members, instead of being at the mercy of unskilled landscapers with hedge trimmers and chainsaws.
"Feel Empowered to Prune" will cover:
- Tools that make the job easy
- How shrubs and trees will respond to thinning and heading cuts
- How to renew overgrown shrubs or previously butchered shrubs
- When you can ignore the rules on the right time of year to prune.
After studying horticulture at Gwinnett Technical College in the 1980’s, Barbara worked in sales and design at wholesale and retail nurseries.
Since 2003 she has been self-employed as a landscape consultant, and garden club speaker. Her presentation on corrective pruning, “Feel Empowered to Prune” has been popular with the Georgia Native Plant Society, Master Gardeners, and garden clubs.
As a member of Georgia Native Plant Society, she promotes the use of native plants to sustain our wildlife and teaches homeowners pruning and practical ways to eliminate exotic invasive plants.
