Native Shrubs and Woody Vines of the Southeast,

Landscaping uses and Identification

by Leonard Foote and Samuel B. Jones, Jr

1989. Timber Press, Portland.

199 pages.

This is a classic book full of clear information about native plant use in traditional yards.  It is not a field guide at all, but a book full of landscape advice about installing native plants in your yard.  On page 38 there is a rather brief chart on which bushes are favored by what native birds.  The color pictures are clear, the reader will get a decent view of the leaf, buds, or branching of the shrub or tree.

It is a very useful book to help any gardener new to native plants feel more comfortable with the use of these shrubs in the personal garden space.
