Aronia arbutifolia (red chokeberry) ripe red berries

Audubon Native Plant Sale is coming up! Sales start on September 1st and go to September 18th.

This week’s featured native shrub is Red Chokeberry,  Aronia arborea. Early spring sees an abundance of delicate white flower clusters that look like small apple blossoms, and are a favorite of native pollinators. In fall the foliage of the Red Chokeberry blazes scarlet, while winter sees plentiful clusters of brilliant red berries.
